The grande dame of American opera died Monday night at the age of 78. We'll pay tribute to this legend of the voice with excerpts from a conversation Fred Child had with her in 2002, as well as some of her greatest performances. We'll have arias from Verdi's "La Traviata" and Rossini's "The Siege of Corinth" during our first hour. Then we'll conclude the show with more of that conversation, as well as two of her greatest arias from Handel's "Julius Caesar" and Jules Massenet's "Manon."
