Whitney Houston’s musical legacy was recently celebrated in a concert tribute at the Kennedy Center. Her original master recordings of some of her biggest hits like “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “Higher Love,” and “I Will Always Love You” were set to new orchestrations. Not only that, they were accompanied by home movies, film performances and never-before-seen-footage. Her crystal-clear, powerful voice soared through heart-rending pop ballads — and, as it turns out, she could hold her own in an operatic aria, too.
