Organ soloist Chelsea Chen is a young musician who makes an impression, and a difference.

A recent graduate of the Juilliard School and Yale University, already she has established an international recital career with acclaimed performances in Indonesia, Austria, Spain, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada and the United States

I first met up with Chelsea several years ago during a weekly organ class at Juilliard, where her engaging stage presence and compelling interpretation of Messiaen's brilliant "Outburst of Joy" made even Juilliard's acoustically-deprived Paul Hall seem to ring resonantly with splendid harmony.

She went on that summer to be a featured 'Rising Star' during the 2006 National Convention of the American Guild of Organists, and has been on the ascent every since.

Chelsea's performance last year at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi drew a large and enthusiastic crowd.

She included her own delightful composition - "Taiwan Tableaux" - based on Asian folk melodies.

Whether in the traditional repertoire, new music, orchestral transcriptions or her original compositions, Ms. Chen conveys a joyful musicianship and infectious delight in the infinite possibilities of the King of Instruments.
