A "hoolerie" is a style of Midwestern Polka that features the clarinet in the highest registers; those piercing, laughing registers that are unique to the instrument.
Clarinetist David Shea relishes the chance to show off that unhinged sound in a piece he performed with his colleagues, cellist, Pablo Mahave-Veglia and pianist, Paulina Zamora.
The group calls itself Trio Montecino and was featured recently on the chamber music series at the North Dakota Museum of Art in Grand Forks.
