The bright colors of early spring flowers, crocus and tulips are always a surprise. There is a sassiness about them. It's as if they say each April, "We're here and we're not leaving. Winter be gone!"
Spring was still a long way off on February 10 when the St. Olaf Band - fresh off the bus from a mid-winter tour - performed at Skogland Center Auditorium on the campus of St Olaf College.
The band's bright sounding performance was a true harbinger of spring.
Old and new works displayed the ensemble's virtuosity and musical commitment.
The St. Olaf Band with director Timothy Mahr is in this week's Regional Spotlight.
