The Minnesota Symphonic Winds (MSW) have been making music for 33 seasons. One of the best community bands in the twin cities, the group performs classic works from the symphonic band repertoire and also some of the newest pieces, many written especially for them.
Two works by composers with Minnesota connections, Daniel Kallman and Carl Holmquist, are in the Regional Spotlight this week.
Timothy Mahr leads the MSW from a performance recorded at St. Olaf College in Northfield on May 1st.
Regional Spotlight airs Thursday at 3 p.m. on Classical MPR stations and web stream.
