Brooklyn Rider is a String Quartet, but not like any quartet you've ever heard. They're innovative, enterprising, and wildly inventive. Here's what Strings Magazine says about them, "Forgive the hyperbole, but I've seen the future of chamber music and it is Brooklyn Rider."
The group is in Minnesota — in fact three of them have Minnesota roots — for the Stillwater Music Festival and a stint at the MPR booth at the State Fair next Wednesday.
They've just released a 2 CD set of music by Philip Glass that's absolutely riveting. In fact the first concert at the Stillwater Festival is all Glass, including the Minnesota premiere of the Suite from the film score for "Bent."
Nicholas Cords is the group's violist and stopped by today for a chat about what the group is doing and to co-host some of their superb music.
