Tonight at 8 p.m., Bill Morelock hosts a broadcast of the Minnesota Orchestra's July 13 concert. Sommerfest Artistic Director Andrew Litton takes the podium in this all-Tchaikovsky program that opens with the breathtaking Capriccio italien, inspired by a trip the composer took to Rome, recalling colorful Italian folk tunes. Then comes one of the most famous piano concertos ever written — Tchaikovsky's bold, emotion-filled First, performed with the superb Danny Driver in his Minnesota Orchestra debut — followed by Tchaikovsky's final work, the gorgeous Sixth (Pathétique) Symphony.
