Violinist Francesca Anderegg has a Swiss explorer among her ancestors. That's telling as Anderegg has been exploring the singing timbres of her instrument, the colors that make for the most expressive performances. Anderegg's new CD includes an unusual repertoire of pieces from Mozart to George Perle, from Schubert to Elliot Carter. She spoke to Steve Staruch about the experiences that have shaped her artistry. Included are excerpts from the new disc: Schubert's Rondo Op 70, George Perle's Triptych and the Menuetto from the Mozart Sonata in E Minor.
Anderegg performs a recital of French works at 3:15pm this Sunday, December 9 at St. Olaf College's Urness Recital Hall in Northfield.
