Minnesota's own Parker Quartet are one of the most celebrated classical ensembles of their generation. To give just a handful of examples, they've won Grammys, served as our inaugural Artists-in-Residence right here at Classical MPR in 2009 and earned accolades from the New York Times.
Today, they returned to Minnesota Public Radio's studios for a performance and interview with Emily Reese. Joining them was composer Jeremy Gill, who was commissioned by the quartet to compose a piece, Capriccio, that the ensemble played a couple of short movements from today. They also performed a movement from Dvorak's Quartet in C Major.
The Parker Quartet will perform both of those pieces in full in the coming days as part of their free All Hearts Listen concert, to be held on Sunday, March 10th at Bigelow Chapel in New Brighton as well as on Thursday, March 14th in Minneapolis at the MacPhail Center for Music's Antonello Hall.
