On both Sunday and Monday at 2 p.m., Copper Street Brass Quintet will perform at the Minnesota State Fair on the stage at the MPR booth, located near the corner of Judson and Nelson. Classical MPR's Bill Morelock hosts.
Founded in Albuquerque, N.M., in 2007, the Copper Street Brass Quintet (or CSBQ) relocated to Minneapolis in 2008. The CSBQ comprises Allison Hall, trumpet and keyboard; Corbin Dillon, trumpet; Timothy Bradley, horn, keyboard, guitar; Alex Wolff, trombone; and Nick Adragna, tuba.
The CSBQ's tour program, "The Evolution of the Brass Quintet", features music from Mozart to Dave Brubeck to Adele. The group has recorded three albums and is featured on two recent holiday CD releases from Minnesota Public Radio. The ensemble has also appeared live on Classical MPR, KARE 11 News and on Montana Today.
As devoted educators, the CSBQ spends much of its time in schools sharing its knowledge with students from kindergarten to college. With expertise in classroom teaching as well as individual instruction, the group's residency packages reached more than 4,300 students in 25 schools last year.
Beyond the CSBQ, the quintet members have performed with The Minnesota Orchestra, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, The Minnesota Opera Orchestra, The New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, The Santa Fe Symphony, The Omaha Symphony and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as with Davina and the Vagabonds, Big Walter Smith and the Groove Merchants, and ACME Jazz Company.
