With its potent mix of fury and fear, punctuated with hammering chords and explosive bass drum bangs, the Requiem Mass is one of Verdi's most striking choral works.
On the composer's 200th birthday, Ricardo Muti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chorus celebrated Verdi's birth by reprising their acclaimed 2009 performances, which sold out months in advance and led to their Grammy® Award-winning recording.
Verdi's Requiem Mass was performed by CSO Music Director Riccardo Muti, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Symphony Chorus, and soprano Tatiana Serjan, mezzo-soprano Daniela Barcellona, tenor Mario Zeffiri, and bass Ildar Abdrazakov.
