This week, now that the deep freeze has lifted, John and Rachel talk about ways to get out without necessarily getting outside.
Starting Monday, Jan. 13, a botanical art exhibit is opening at the O'Shaughnessy Educational Center Lobby Gallery at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. The exhibit will feature the artwork of, among others, St. Paul artist Charles Lyon, who paints photo realistic images of flowers. A detail of Lyon's Farnesina Roses watercolor appears at right.
Across Cleveland Avenue from the campus of the University of St. Thomas is the longtime neighborhood fixture, The 128 Café. This cozy, welcoming restaurant is now under new management, but it retains its signature baby back ribs.
What's more, the new owners have given the menu a broader global reach, including a terrific kimchi soup.
And to see real flowers in the midst of winter, one needn't travel much further than the Como Park Conservatory in St. Paul — which John and Rachel will discuss more on next Friday's Moveable Feast.
