Now that Oscar season is over, we're going back to Hollywood — and back in time — to rediscover a legend of the silver screen.
Rudolph Valentino was a pop icon, a sex symbol, and a tragic figure whose life was over at the age of 31, consumed by the same forces that made him a superstar.
James Valenti is the opera singer who brings Valentino's charisma to life onstage in the Minnesota Opera production of The Dream of Valentino by Domenick Argento.
Valenti visited Classical MPR, along with Minnesota Opera Artistic Director Dale Johnson and Head of Music Robert Ainsley, to help us understand the phenomenon of this screen icon, and to sing the music that brings Valentino to life again.
