For our weekly feature, "Moveable Feast," Rachel Hutton of Minnesota Monthly joins John Birge to talk about where to go and what to eat in Minnesota.

This week, John and Rachel talk about where to go for St. Patrick's Day.

The biggest local name in Irish hospitality is that of Kieran Folliard, founder of an empire of Twin Cities pubs — Kieran's Irish Pub, The Local, Cooper and the Liffey — as well as the 2 Gingers whiskey brand.

Surely the aforementioned pubs will be packed on Monday, and you can certainly join the crowds there, but if you're looking for a lower-key option, Rachel suggests celebrating early with an Irish breakfast, served Saturday and Sunday mornings at The Anchor Fish & Chips in Northeast Minneapolis. The "Full Whack" includes eggs, rashers, bangers, black-and-white pudding, bread, grilled tomato and mushroom, and Heinz beans. For the uninitiated, rashers are thick slices of bacon that are less fatty than the bacon one typically finds in American restaurants, and bangers are hearty sausages.

Black-and-white pudding is composed of two specific types of sausage, both made with oatmeal and the black one includes blood ... if that's not too gross to discuss. Rachel simply encourages people to "get brave and try it."
