Moisey Weinberg's music has a element of circus about it. Ignored in post-WWII Soviet Russia (his family had run afoul of Stalin), Weinberg could only make a living composing for the circus and cartoons. His Violin Concerto is a romp of a work.
Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica performed the piece earlier this year as part of the Schubert Club's International Artist Series.
