It's the time of the year when we think about scary movies, so you might want to turn on an extra light or two … although this first one might make you laugh: It's a 1974 comedy film directed by Mel Brooks and starring Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, Cloris Leachman, Teri Garr, Peter Boyle, Gene Hackman and others. The film is Young Frankenstein.
Wilder collaborated with Brooks on the screenplay, which is a spoof of the 1939 film based on the novel by Mary Shelley. The film was a critical favorite and a big hit at the box office, and it's been ranked number 13 on the American Film Institute's list of 100 funniest movies.
Although Mel Brooks usually did the music for his films, in the case of Young Frankenstein, Brooks turned to composer John Morris.
On this week's Flicks in Five, we'll hear Morris's "The Transylvanian Lullaby" from Young Frankenstein.
