For the hip-hop artist Dessa, singing in a choir usually meant singing all the parts herself and overdubbing them on her laptop.
No more. Now she's writing for a hundred voices of the VocalEssence Choir. Plus orchestra. And she's keeping her solo voice in the mix too.
This Sunday, Oct. 26, Dessa joins many of Minnesota's great composers in a concert called Made in Minnesota. She and VocalEssence Artistic Director Philip Brunelle talk about how the collaboration started, where it's going and what they're discovering in the journey.
