Beginning 1000 years ago in Europe, families would bring their sons to the local monastery. In exchange for an education, the boys would sing for the monks. Choir schools have produced fantastic choral musicians in Europe for generations, but it's a tradition that's largely unknown in the United States.
St. Paul's Choir School is the only American choir school where boys receive an academic, religious and musical education. This year they've released their first CD of Christmas music. PT host Fred Child spoke with Father Michael Drea, music director John Robinson and singers Colin Lapus and Christian Casiano about this unique musical tradition.
