Uptown seemed to have a real hot streak of openings: most notably Libertine, Coup d'État, and Heyday in Lyn-Lake. Brasserie Zentral was the biggest opening downtown and for the suburbs, Travail (which we discussed a few weeks ago) reopened bigger and better.

A hot trend this year seemed to be food-trucks going brick and mortar. Hola Arepa opened a restaurant at 35th and Nicollet and it's been completely packed.

Speaking of packed, Bogart's Doughnut Co. in south Minneapolis went from a farmers market stand to a storefront with lines snaking out the door.

In addition, some longtime eateries reopened: Town Talk Diner became Le Town Talk Diner, which is a French bistro. Meanwhile, other longtime eateries closed: Bar Abilene and Figlio (for the second time).

Elsewhere, Kim Bartmann opened three restaurants: Kyatchi, Tiny Diner, and The Third Bird. Surly's brand new $30-million brewery and restaurant opened in the Prospect Park neighborhood. Chef Gavin Kaysen, a Bloomington native who made a big name in New York, returned to the Twin Cities to open Spoon and Stable in the North Loop.
