Every weekday at 10 a.m., the hosts at Classical MPR play a standout work based on the theme for the week. We call these works Morning Glories.
Fast away the old year passes, as the song goes. On Morning Glories, we'll look back at some of the classical music events that made news in 2014 — and welcome 2015 in.
Monday: In Memoriam
We'll remember some of the musicians who left us in 2014, including Claudio Abbado, Christopher Hogwood and Stephen Paulus.
Tuesday
Gramophone magazine's Record of the Year was a set of Brahms symphonies, with Riccardo Chailly.
Wednesday
This was a big comeback year for the Minnesota Orchestra — which included a Grammy for their recording of Sibelius symphonies.
Thursday
No Morning Glories today — please enjoy our live broadcast of New Year's Day from Vienna.
Friday
To ring in the new year, we'll share a new release by Barry Douglas — and you'll have a chance to win a copy for yourself.
