The Wiener Musikverein in Vienna is considered by many music lovers to be the center of Viennese musical culture. And since its inauguration in 1870, it has been considered to be one of the finest concert halls in the world.
In one of the great traditions of the Musikverein (since 1959), the Vienna Philharmonic will celebrate the New Year from the famous Golden Hall — the permanent home to the orchestra. Led by Zubin Mehta, the ensemble will present a program featuring the energetic and fascinating music of the Strauss Dynasty. As musical ambassadors of Austria, it is the goal of the Philharmonic to send a New Year's greeting of hope and peace to listeners all over the world.
