Every weekday at 10 a.m., the hosts at Classical MPR play a standout work based on the theme for the week. We call these works Morning Glories.

It's a week of big-name birthdays in the musical world. On Morning Glories, we'll have a weeklong party for some of these musical notables of past and present.

Monday

Gustavo Dudamel (b. 1981, Barquisimeto, Venezuela)
Still in his early 30s, Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel has made a stratospheric ascent to stardom in the classical world. Today, he and pianist Yuja Wang take on the challenges of Rachmaninoff's Third Concerto.

Tuesday

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (b. 1756, Salzburg, Austria)

Wednesday

Artur Rubinstein (b. 1887, Lodz, Poland)
One of the great pianists of the twentieth century, Artur Rubinstein here plays a Beethoven sonata.

Thursday

Frederick Delius (b. 1862, Bradford, England)
Delius was one of the composers who revitalized English music in the early 20th century. His "North Country Sketches" suggests the English landscape as it moves from autumn to winter to spring.

Friday

Lynn Harrell (b. 1944, New York)
The son of a distinguished opera singer, Lynn Harrell (who plays Brahms this morning) is one of America's most distinguished cellists.
