The St. Michael - Albertville (STMA) High School Concert Choir director, Joseph Osowski, believes that music is vital to the STMA high school experience. Indeed, music is well represented at the school by twelve performing ensembles. The Concert Choir is made up of sophomore through senior students and rehearses for just over an hour every day.

The repertoire that the Concert Choir performs spans a wide range of styles. They have recently enjoyed working with local composer Jake Runestad, and are hoping to continue to champion other local composers. Recently they have collaborated with other choirs in performances, including Cantus, and those from North Dakota State University, San Diego State University and Concordia College. This year, the ensemble was featured as a selected guest ensemble at the Concordia College High School Choral Festival and the Minnesota Music Educators Association Mid-winter Clinic.

St. Michael - Albertville is fortunate to have a community that is very supportive of the arts. Superintendent, Dr. James Behle, summarized their philosophy thusly:

"We believe that music education is basic to a comprehensive high school program, enhances partnerships within the community and teaches life-skills. The music program supports a number of initiatives that bring the arts and students together with the community. Support for our music program can be found in our state of the art Performing Arts Center - one of the best high school performance venues in Minnesota [which] opened in 2009. Over 500 high school students participate in our vocal and instrumental program; one third of our high school enrollment!"

The Concert Choir will next perform a pops concert at the aforementioned Performing Arts Center at the St. Michael - Albertville High School on Monday, May 18th at 7:00 p.m. If you happen to be going to the Minnesota Twins game on Friday, May 29, you will catch them performing the national anthem.
