The Detroit Symphony and Music Director Leonard Slatkin have recently released new recordings of all six of Peter Tchaikovsky's symphonies.

We spoke to Leonard Slatkin about the process of turning live concerts into recordings, and if he can hear the difference between a live concert recording and a studio recording. The answer is yes, but the "why" may surprise you.
