Flicks in Five: Clark Gable

Flicks in Five: Clark Gable

Clark Gable was one of the first great leading men of the film industry. He starred in a number of prominent films from the 1920s to the 1960s, and was nominated for an Oscar three times — including a nomination for what is perhaps his most famous role as Rhett Butler in Gone With the Wind. He won the Oscar in 1935 for his performance in It Happened One Night.

He was often paired with some of the great leading actresses of the time, including Lana Turner, Joan Crawford, Ava Gardner, and in 1961, he appeared with Marilyn Monroe in The Misfits. Sadly, it would be his last film (as well as Monroe's). He suffered a heart attack two days after filming had ended, and passed away ten days later.

On this week's Flicks in Five, we'll hear some of Alex North's score to The Misfits.
