In 1985, a wonderful, classic children's book authored and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg was released — The Polar Express.
Like many of us, actor Tom Hanks fell in love with the book. He decided to put some funding into the movie version of the story, and he also plays a number of characters: the father, the hobo, Santa Claus, and the train conductor.
The story is about a train that takes select children (who have a tough time with belief) to the North Pole to visit Santa, and one of them receives the first gift of Christmas.
On this week's Flicks in Five, we'll hear some of Alan Silvestri's beautiful score for The Polar Express.
