Instrument: B-flat clarinet
Hometown: Northfield, Minn.
Piece: Carl Maria von Weber — Concertino for Clarinet
Why did you choose this piece?
I first heard this piece in 6th grade on YouTube. It was played by Stanley Drucker, the principle clarinetist for the New York Philharmonic. I have always wanted to play it in front of a large audience just like he did. My main reason for choosing this piece is because of its fast passages that I like to call "fireworks". The Concertino is a real crowd pleaser if one can make it sound effortless and that is always my goal with this classic from the clarinet repertoire.
