Why did you choose this piece?
This is a lesser known piece by Thorvald Hansen that I first heard my role model, Ashley Hall, perform a few years ago. I instantly fell in love with the haunting sound that can best be expressed on a cornet. While spending so much time on technical pieces in the trumpet repertoire, I am delighted to also study this more lyrical style of playing. This piece is even more beautiful when performed with the piano accompaniment.
