When you think of the Oscars and big winners, John Williams is a name that often comes up. He's been nominated 50 times (as of this year) and is up for Oscar No. 6 with his score for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
However, the "person" (studio) who has won the most Oscars is Walt Disney.
Between 1931 and 1968, Walt Disney won 32 Academy Awards — a record that still holds today.
His first Oscar was for animated short subject — Silly Symphony — Flowers and Trees. He received that award at the 1932 Academy Awards, where he was also given an honorary award for the creation of Mickey Mouse.
Disney also (just barely) edges out John Williams for the most Oscar nominations with 59. Back in the day when Bob Hope was hosting the Oscars, he once quipped, "we'll just send them to Walt Disney."
A recent movie that actually featured Walt Disney himself — which was rather unusual — was the Emma Thompson/Tom Hanks movie, Saving Mr. Banks. This film is all about Walt Disney's attempts to get the author of Mary Poppins to let go of the rights and so Disney could make the movie.
