CMS Two's Late Night Rose sessions

CMS Two is a program that brings together some of the best up and coming chamber music players with their peers who have had a chance to establish themselves; the idea is less student/teacher and more a passing of information. Members of CMS Two are hand-picked for a three-year residency by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. They go on tour, help with outreach and teaching, and get to perform on some of New York's most revered stages.

A popular feature of CMS Two performances is the Late Night Rose sessions - a series of shows 10 floors above Lincoln Center in the intimate Rose Studio. PT was honored to host the most recent Late Night Rose event back in March. It featured a mix of past and present CMS Two (Michael Brown, piano; Gloria Chien, piano; Tommaso Lonquich, clarinet; Mihai Marica, cello) members performing with 35-year Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center veteran violinist, Ani Kavafian.

You can enjoy the night's performances and watch some behind the scenes videos below. Don't forget to tune into the broadcast this week for more insights from these talented chamber musicians.

Pianists Michael Brown and Gloria Chien are embracing technology, for better or worse. They have both decided to eschew paper scores and now read their music off iPads. That may be great when you're trying to learn hundreds of pieces, but what happens when technology doesn't cooperate?
