Over the past 25 years, Ancia Saxophone Quartet has worked up a repertoire that spans centuries. The group recently stopped by to chat and perform pieces from the 19th (Domenico Scarlatti), 20th (Astor Piazzolla), and 21st century (Libby Larsen). The Libby Larsen piece was commissioned to help express Ancia's concerns with the environment. It's called Confluence, and each movement is inspired by a confluence of rivers from around the world.
Ancia Saxophone Quartet performed the third movement of Confluence in the PT studios. It focuses on the French city of Strasbourg, where the Rhine and the Ill rivers come together in tumult and harmony.
