How did a Julliard-trained percussionist come to move from Brooklyn to East Grand Forks and become one of the hottest new celebrity chefs?
Molly Yeh (pronounced "yay") has a pretty amazing story of her rise to culinary fame. A few years ago, she had recently graduated from Julliard and was living in Brooklyn, experimenting with a food blog when she was reintroduced to one of her Julliard classmates, Nick Hagen. They started dating and soon decided to move to East Grand Forks and take over Hagen's grandparents' sugar beet farm. Yeh's blog, My Name is Yeh, started taking off, with her recipes going viral on Pinterest (in 2015 it was named Saveur magazine's blog of the year).
She just launched her first cookbook, Molly on the Range, with a huge advance for a first-time author. One of the writers for Minnesota Monthly, Tim Gihring, went to visit her on the farm and shares more about her interesting life in a profile in the March issue of the magazine.
