Every year a group of friends, who happen to be some of the best brass players in Norway, get together for a fun reunion disguised as a music tour. This year, they stopped by the Performance Today studio.
tenThing is led by trumpet extraordinaire Tine Thing Helseth. For three fantastic weeks, the ten musicians in the ensemble take a break from their day jobs as teachers and orchestra members to tour the world to showcase outstanding Norwegian brass musicianship. Many of these performers met as students and it is clear they love playing together.
Valerie Kahler interviews tenThing in the Performance Today studio and the ensemble plays these pieces:
* Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Rondo alla Turca
* Edvard Grieg: Gjendine's Lullaby, Op. 66 No. 19
* Edvard Grieg: March of the Trolls from Lyric Pieces, Op. 54 No. 3
* Leonard Bernstein: Tonight, from West Side Story
