There are many film scores that are considered favorites among the public ear. A few of those are The Mission by Ennio Morricone, Magnificent Seven by Elmer Bernstein, and most importantly, the 1962 epic film and score: Lawrence of Arabia by Maurice Jarre. This score won Jarre his very first Academy Award, and later, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Jarre was born in Lyon, France, and was intent on following his father's footsteps of becoming an engineer. He was enrolled in the Sorbonne until music became his sole focus. He left the Sorbonne to enroll in the Paris Conservatory to study composition and harmony with a focus on percussion. This explains why there is such a prominent percussion part given in the score of Lawrence of Arabia. This is a suite from Lawrence of Arabia; a live performance with Maurice Jarre conducting the BBC Concert Orchestra.
