Fall means back to school. This week's Flicks in Five highlights the story of a beloved school teacher as he recounts his career and personal life over the years.
When it comes to a popular topic for movie making, back to school is something we all can relate to at one time or another. There are tons of movies about being at school or going back to school that are real classics. This one, "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" was originally a movie that was then turned into a musical. It is a 1939 British-romantic drama that was based on a best-selling novel by James Hilton. It is all about Mr. Chipping, an aging school teacher and former headmaster of a boarding school who recalls his career and personal life over the decades. The score was done by British composer Richard Addinsell. This is a short piece of the main theme in "Goodbye, Mr. Chips."
