Every weekday at 10 a.m., the hosts at Classical MPR play a standout work based on the theme for the week. We call them Morning Glories.
Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro" is being presented by Minnesota Opera at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. Originally a play by Pierre Beaumarchais, "The Marriage of Figaro" is the second of three plays that make up the Figaro trilogy. The first is "The Barber of Seville" and the last is "The Guilty Mother." In addition to Mozart, Paisiello, Rossini, Milhaud and Corigliano are some of the composers that have transformed the Figaro trilogy plays into operas.
Classical MPR presents a live broadcast of Minnesota Opera's "The Marriage of Figaro" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16. During the week, Morning Glories features selections from several operas inspired by the Figaro trilogy.
