In celebration of summer, we're bringing classical music out of the concert hall and to a waterfront near you as part of Pop Up Classical. From Aug. 1-4, Classical MPR and the Water Main will bring the Concert Truck, a classical concert venue on wheels, to towns across Minnesota.
The series kicks off Wednesday, Aug. 1, in Excelsior, on the shores of Lake Minnetonka, at Excelsior Brewing. On Thursday, Aug. 2, it's the Lake City Market by the Lake, on the shores of Lake Pepin, in Lake City. On Friday, Aug. 3, the Concert Truck will pop up by the statues of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox at the Bemidji Waterfront in Bemidji.
On Saturday, Aug. 4, Pop Up Classical will celebrate Lake Superior as the winner of Minnesota's Most Loved Lake with three performances along the North Shore — at Tettegouche State Park, north of Silver Bay, and in Two Harbors and Duluth. The Water Main, MPR News and Classical MPR will host these pop-up celebrations featuring the Concert Truck and tributes to Lake Superior in the form of music, spoken word, photography and more.
