Fred Child talks with Andrea Clearfield, Music From Angel Fire’s composer in residence on Performance Today.
In 2008, composer Andrea Clearfield was commissioned by Philadelphia’s Network for New Music to write a chamber work in collaboration with painter Maureen Drdak. Over the next two years, Clearfield traveled to Nepal with Drdak and anthropologists Dr. Sienna Craig and Katey Blumenthal to conduct research on Tibetan music and art. This Tibetan music fieldwork inspired a number of Clearfield’s works, including the work performed at the 2018 Music from Angel Fire Music Festival.
