Young Artist in Residence - Rodolfo Leone

Italian-born pianist Rodolfo Leone has been described as "a true sound philosopher". He is the 2017 First Prize Winner of the 15th International Beethoven Piano Competition Vienna and is a current Artist Diploma candidate at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles where he studies with long-time mentor Fabio Bidini.

Leone grew up in Turin, Italy and he made his orchestral debut with the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento in 2013. He made his North American debut the following year with the Toronto Concert Orchestra. Since that time, Leone has performed in chamber and orchestral settings all over the world at such places as Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the Steinway Hall in London, UK and the Music Hall of the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China. He has also performed with the San Diego Symphony and the Vienna Radio Symphony, among others.

Leone is also a top winner of several other major piano competitions. In 2014, he was awarded the second prize at the 2014 Toronto International Piano Competition and in 2013 he was awarded the top prize at International Busoni Competition Plan.

Leone studied at the Hans Eisler School of music in Berlin, Germany and at the Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro, Italy before obtaining his Master of Music degree from the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles. His debut album featuring works of Ludwig van Beethoven was released in May of 2018.
