The Schubert Club's first featured artist, Nicola Benedetti, returned to St. Paul in January for concerts with pianist Alexei Grynyuk. The program included the U.S. premiere of the Fiddle Dance Suite, written for Benedetti by Wynton Marsalis, in addition to the Chaconne from Bach's Partita No. 2, Prokofiev's Violin Sonata No. 2 and Richard Strauss' Sonata for Violin and Piano.
There were two concerts — 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, both at the Ordway Center. Sunday afternoon's concert was broadcast live on Classical Minnesota Public Radio, with host Scott Blankenship, and you can listen to that performance now by clicking on the audio player above.
