Listen with host Melissa Ousley at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, for a special Classical MPR broadcast of Minnesota Opera's production of Don Pasquale, composed by Gaetano Donizetti.
Set in the Golden Age of Hollywood, this production tells the story of an aging Hollywood film star, Don Pasquale, who isn't so pleased with the path his life has taken. He disinherits a nephew, gets into a fake marriage, and, at the end of the opera, realizes that true love wins every time.
Want to hear more from the Minnesota Opera? Its production of composer Douglas J. Cuomo and librettist John Patrick Shanley's Doubt will be broadcast nationally on PBS as a part of its Great Performances series. Twin Cities station TPT, Channel 2, will air the program at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25. This TV production features audio produced by Classical MPR.
Minnesota Opera presented the world premiere of Doubt on Jan. 26, 2013, as a part of its 50th anniversary season at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul.
