Aaron Copland once complained that there were too many notes in Rachmaninoff's music. Pianist Boris Giltburg presented an all-Rachmaninoff program in May as a guest artist with the Frederic Chopin Society. His performance was a demonstration of musical economy — not too many notes, but just enough. Giltburg plays several preludes from Rachmaninoff's Op. 23 in this week's Regional Spotlight.
