Thirty-five marching bands performed all day and evening Saturday in the Youth in Music Marching Band Championships at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. By the time the last notes had echoed off the rafters late that night, Rosemount High School repeated as the champion.

The Youth in Music website offers a rundown of the placings from the finals, as well as other details about the event.

But the 15th annual event, coordinated by Minnesota marching impresario Brent Turner, was about more than competing. These thousands of young artistic athletes from Minnesota and across the region were showing off months of hard work in musical and visual excellence in what, for many, was their final performance of the season.

Check out these photos from the daytime competition, which ran from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., to get a glimpse of the bands' field shows.
