Maximus Gurath,from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was a Minnesota Varsity 2018 Showcase Artist. He recently got in touch with Classical MPR to share his latest news.
Maximus Gurath, 2018 Showcase Artist, cello
Age: 17
Hometown: Sioux Falls, S.D.
Attending: Interlochen Center for the Arts, Interlochen Mich.
I am a high school junior studying cello performance with Dr. Patrick Owen at Interlochen Center for the Arts. My goal is to study cello performance at a major conservatory when done with high school. Interlochen is helping me prepare for college auditions, as well as providing an opportunity to perform with orchestra, small ensembles, and chamber groups.
Minnesota Varsity gave me the opportunity to record in a world class studio, which I had never done before. It also gave me the opportunity to perform live on the radio, which was great because I listen to Classical MPR all the time.
