Why do you love to perform?
I love performing for many reasons. Most importantly, I love to bring joy to the people watching and listening; it makes me happy. I also just love being able to express myself without there being a right or wrong way. To add on to that, I am a pretty shy person around new people, and I don't like the idea of being judged negatively, but when I'm at the piano that all goes away. The keyboard is almost like a barrier between me and everybody else and I am free to do whatever I want. I also love the feeling of performing versus practicing. It feels like I'm under less pressure to get everything perfect, and it's more about the musicality, which is my favorite aspect of music making. I love being expressive in my music - it is my top priority. Another reason why I love performing is because sometimes I get to do it in front of my friends and family, which makes me really happy that I can share my gift with people who are close to me. I also love to perform duets with my younger sister, whether it's a holiday program, a competition or a master class. It has given us a special connection, for which I am very grateful.
