Why do you love to perform?
I love to perform on percussion, especially on solo mallet instruments like vibraphone, because of the visual aspect they add to the performance. Not only am I making a beautiful and resonant sound for the audience, but I get to show them that I'm feeling the music throughout my whole being. It is almost like a dance. The sound of the vibraphone is very unique and not a lot of people get to hear that in a soloistic setting, which is one of the reasons I love performing on it. Performance is also a demonstration of the hours of hard work and dedication I have put into a project, and it is very rewarding. Performing for my family, friends, and my community is like giving the people I love a gift. It is my way of giving back something special to all the people in my life who have devoted countless hours to my growth as a musician and as a person. Sharing music with these people is why I love and am passionate about performing.
