Welcome to your virtual Class Notes Residency with the Mill City String Quartet!
The Mill City String Quartet was founded in 2007. Based in Minnesota, the quartet has played all over the country and gives concerts in a wide variety of settings.
Instead of visiting your school in person, each member of the quartet has created a series of tutorials to help you improve on your instrument and develop your technique. They will even play your part on some of the pieces you have been assigned so you can practice along with them.
1. INTRODUCTION
First, meet Huldah, who plays violin in the quartet. She'll introduce herself and play a little for you.
2. TREMOLO
In the second video, Huldah will give you tips and tricks for playing tremolo. Have your instrument and your music for Medieval Wars ready so you can follow along and try the techniques Huldah demonstrates.
3. SHIFTING
Again, have your instrument and Medieval Wars music ready!
4. ACCENTS
Huldah will demonstrate how to play accents in Medieval Wars. Have your instrument and music with you.
5. METRONOME
Huldah will give you tips and tricks for using a metronome to improve your playing. If you have a metronome or metronome app, have it ready. If you don't have one, that's okay- she'll talk you through some alternative strategies.
6. PLAY THROUGH!
Huldah will play the violin parts in Medieval Wars. Have your materials ready so you can play along.
