Could you name a hundred things that make life wonderful? A thousand? How about a million?
The answers to these questions form the inspiration for the play Every Brilliant Thing, which opens the Jungle Theater’s new season in Minneapolis this week. A family tragedy inspired these questions, and the answers will inspire you. Actually, the narrator is not alone in his quest for brilliant things, because the audience chimes in. Now, if you are opposed to cringe audience participation, no worries. I received my little piece of paper listing my brilliant thing during the show’s original run Off-Broadway. Within minutes I was so charmed that I eagerly awaited the chance to participate in this lovely meditation on gratitude.
Four more brilliant things that will make your life wonderful in the week ahead:
Hope Lives Here, the VocalEssence celebration of life with Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and a world premiere by Gabriel Kahane.
Celebrating Judy Dayton, the Chamber Music Society of Minnesota’s tribute to the late, great classical music patron, with a Brahms Sextet and a world premiere by Steve Heitzeg.
The Art of Strings, the Rochester Symphony return to live performance with three classic string orchestra favorites, including Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
The Return to Life, the La Crosse Symphony marks the return of Russian piano virtuoso Ilya Yakushev.
