Gorgeous voices for all reasons and seasons grace this deep midwinter week in Minnesota.
Chanticleer, the world famous men’s vocal ensemble from San Francisco, perform two shows this week. The first is on Tuesday at St. Michael-Albertville High School and the second on Sunday at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis. Sunday’s concert is shared with Minnesota’s own men’s chorus Cantus, and you can hear this glorious combination broadcast live at 3pm on YourClassical MPR. Remember that time Chanticleer and Cantus walked into a bar?
Thursday, the superb Canadian baritone Gerald Finley graces the Ordway stage in St. Paul for an evening of premieres from Shakespeare and Schubert! Let’s hope that includes the Schubert Club’s unofficial anthem, An die Musik, which is his tribute to the miraculous healing power of music. Can anyone sing it with deeper feeling than Finley, like when he performed it with the Berlin Philharmonic?
